Telxon IntelliWorxx VoiceTablet Pentium II 300 Mhz
Pentium II 300 Mhz CPU and 256 meg of RAM
Complete with ruggedized laptop, docking station, external floppy, AC power adapter, and it comes with a free DC power adapter
Used by the Iowa State Patrol and now available to you, this is a Pentium II laptop with hard drive and DOS 6 operating system
This is a ruggedized Tough-Book type of computer that once was a networked computer.
The laptop has the following ports and inputs available when it is not hooked to the dock:
2 PCMCIA, USB, audio, power input, and serial mouse
256 meg of RAM. I configured DOS 6 on part of the 6 gig hard drive.
AC adapter is Telxon model AD-740U-1150, and it includes AC the input cable that plugs into the wall. Tested, works great.
The power adapter plugs in to the docking station or in to the laptop
The docking station has ethernet, PCMCIA, USB, serial and parallel ports, audio output jacks, and a VGA output jack
The original screen was a touch screen, and it can run Windows 98 (not included). Screen shows signs of daily touch-screen stylus use.
This sale includes a battery, AC adapter, and DC adapter for automotive use
The DC adapter is exactly as it was when removed from Highway Patrol Crown Vic’s that patrolled the highways of Iowa
The DC adapter is made by Lind, model # TE1540-280, designed for use with Telxon cradle, and is untested
To the right of the screen is a speaker, microphone, on/off, right mouse, function, blacklight, and contrast push buttons
Also to the right of the screen are monitors for charge, status, low battery, and disk activity
There is an unlabeled monitor light for “radio”, which is not used
Floppy drive is a Telxon model EFD-1194 which connects via a Molex/TDK cable #22725-001-01 which is included
I have connected an external USB cdrom but the bios does not recognize it upon boot. The screen is color VGA, and I have loaded Windows 95 on one as a test to verify. (Loaded from diskette)
I asked an Iowa state patrol IT specialist and she said they booted to Windows 98 in the patrol cars, and booted to a network in the offices using IP addresses in the 192.168.x.x range.
I inspect the screens on each laptop but keep in mind they are used and were once used with a stylus. The officer would detach the unit from the docking station, take it to the driver being ticketed, and the driver would sign right on the screen. You can see evidence of that.
I do not remember how to load DOS drivers and IP assignments to boot from my network nor have I tried. I am not sure if external CD Rom connectors are standardized or if they would hook up to the same connector as the floppy drive, and do not have the equipment to find out.
Remember, the mouse for these must be a serial port mouse unless you are able to load Windows 2000 with USB mouse drivers. I have not tested with a serial to PS2 mouse adapter. I did find a serial mouse at a thrift store for 50 cents.
This item should be considered as educational, experimental. It is not your everyday laptop. No returns - Bid or buy accordingly
No paperwork, software, or guarantee included. All sales are final. No refund or returns. This is a liquidation item. Ask if you have any questions. Touch screen function not verified, and stylus is not included
I want to get the price low enough, with enough value, to put together a good deal. Hours of summer fun, this laptop could be loaded with Windows 98 or Windows 2000 from a network server. Accepts a USB mouse. You could use an Internet adapter card such as Proxima Orinco to access the Internet after you load an operating system. (not included)
The AC adapter by itself sells for $14.95, the 6 gig hard drive for about $10. I did not price the floppy drive or DC adapter. Buy now and save
