You are bidding on a division of a Pot. Caesar’s Head ‘#01’ X Blc. Toshie Aoki ‘Pizzaz’ AM/AOS. This plant is not a mericlone and has not been shown or judged. There are 6 previously bloomed pseudobulbs and you can see where the other division was removed. The plant is 18″ tall in a 6″ pot; the total height is 24″. It has 3 buds. One bud is opening and beginning to show some color. The orchid has branched and a new growth is roughly 1″ tall. It will probably have two blooming leads on its next cycle. It was potted in CHC/perlite/charcoal in 2004. I grow my orchids outside during the summer.
The pedigree speaks for itself. Pot. Caesar’s Head ‘#01’ has been the pod parent of awarded plants and a serious brood plant for Carter and Holmes. I don’t know whether ‘#01’ has been named or awarded, but it is easy to find Pot. Caesar’s Head with cultivar names and awards. The other parent has an Award of Merit from the AOS. AOS may evaluate the blooms, but only time and adversity will prove the vigor of the cross.
I purchased this plant as a seedling in 1998 in a 2-½ inch pot. It has bloomed every season since 2000. It has nice upright growth that does not require staking. I wish I could say it was a well-grown plant, but I won’t lie. It is a plant that grows well. It has been outside in summer temperatures in excess of 110 F, and been as cold as 38’ F in the autumn before brought inside for the winter. I don’t recommend either extreme. In spite of me, it grows, branches, and blooms.
