Tolumnia prionochilum is an equitant oncidium species. It is a miniature with a big attitude. I consider it a very easy plant (for me anyway)

It is still a single growth, but well established on a 4″ mount. I call the mount fuzzy vine. It is from vinca I think. It drains freely but water drops bead and collect on it. Whatever, the equitants have grown better to them than any other mount I’ve tried.

This is a keikei from my mother plant. She’s been a vigorous grower and blooms reliably. The only problem has been protecting the spikes from damage. A previously mounted division bloomed on its second growth. It looked so cute. A long bloom spike on such a tiny plant. The blooms were yellow with red spots.

I grow outside during the summer and use a combination of balanced and organic fertilizers. When available, I water my orchids with collected rainwater. I am not a professional grower. My collection has grown and I don’t have room for duplicates.
